A favorite memory that is forever a part of my heart :)

I can recall a time in the blink of my eye,

That I will always cherish and on which I can always rely,

It was the moment when my uncle could see who I truly was inside,

He was more then my uncle, he was agreat friend I will never forget,

And one time I can recall I will never forget,

It was on Thanksgiving exactly five years ago,

When I told him what was troubling in my heart, and he taught me how to be bold,

He truly understood me in a wayI can't even begin to explain,

But his words always soothed and healed my heart and repaired my soul like the refreshing spring rain,

I told him of what was on my mind and how I didn't know what to do,

I still remember when I asked him how do you know when a guy truly loves you,

He looked at me and laughed gently as he smiled,

He took my hand into his gently and we talked for a long while,

It was cold out but we didn't mind,

We looked at the stars together as his words and his voice washed over me soft warm and kind,

I still remember his words as clear as day,
He was a simple man, but his words I always thought were profound,

He always had a way of helping me get back on solid ground,
As we stood together on that night he said to me,

It is simple the way you will know a man truly loves you is if he never leaves,

If he sticks by you in good times and bad,

If he remains your friend and continues you to love you even if you cry or get mad,

I thanked him happily and we went back into the house to enjoy dessert thatwas so delicious and sweet,

And whenever I am afraid or unsure of what to do his final words to me that night I will always repeat,

As he hugged and kissed me goodbye that night as I began to feel the winter's oncoming chill,

I didn't even care because his words I realize would help kill winter's approaching icy chill,

He held me close and told me whatever happens you will always remain beautiful and sweet,I realized his words would always aid and see me through and help me realize I will always be complete,

It was his last words to me, for anot even a few monthes later, God took him home with him,

And I never felt a loss this great once I was separated my soul felt empty and slim,

I always can recall his words find a good guy who treats you like a treasure and his princess and puts no one else above you that is how you will see,

He is meant for you and you both are meant to be,

Even though not a day goes by where I don't wish he was still here, he never leaves my mind,

As a testament I make my life's mission to do my best make him happy of the people he loves who he had to leave behind,

I hope he is happy and is safe and well,

And I hope he knows I miss him and want him to know his wonderful person and love I will always tell. :)

This is a beautiful memory, and your uncle sounds like a beautiful person. Those people who have someone in their lives who really see them as a real person inside are rare and very fortunate.

Several years ago I started a thread called I'm thinking of a memory.

Unfortunately the powers that be chose to close topics older than a year. This would have been a beautiful addition.

It's a very sweet memory; very nice. As a poem it was ... well, I think long winded. It was good, but some of your lines were extremely long. If you read it out loud to yourself, you might see what I mean. You could easily cut some of these words out and not loose any of the emotion. You also repeat yourself, and some of your rhyming sounds a little forced. If you're actually looking for feedback, here it is. If this was meant just as a nice little memory you wanted to share, it really is that.:)

Makes me miss my uncle. *sigh* He's alive; we just don't talk very much anymore. He's a lawyer, so he's busy a lot. And he lives in a whole other state, unfortunately.
